How You Can Help
News Media

The news media can help tip the scales for better health by informing the public about the dangers of childhood obesity and spreading the word about commuity initiatives to promote healthy lifestyles.

Stories on the Dangers of Childhood Obesity

Childhood obesity has been identified as a national health problem by the Centers for Disease Control, the Institute of Medicine, the American Acadmey of Pediatrics, and many other leading health organizations.  On this website we track news stories about new developments on our Childhood Obesity News page. But public awareness is still not where it should be, and there is a great need for more stories in local print and broadcast news outlets.

Stories on Community Initiatives

The good news is there are many community initiatives aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles.  Some of these are based upon  9-5-2-1-0 for Health message.  We encourage the news media to cover these community initiatives which are so important to the future health of Northern Virginia.
