The Message:   9-5-2-1-0 for Health

Five daily habits can help kids live healthier lives and sustain a healthy body weight.

9 - Get at least nine hours of sleep
5 - Eat five servings of fruits and vegetables
2 - Limit screen time to 2 hours or less
1 - Get at least 1 hour of physical activity
0 - Eliminate sugary drinks

Welcome to Tipping the Scales for Better Health!

Tipping the Scales for Better Health is a child health promotion project of the Northern Virginia Healthy Kids Coalition.  TippingtheScales.net is an online resource center for adults engaged in helping kids lead healthier lives.  You can help by taking three steps.

1. Spread the Message

Start by spreading the 9-5-2-1-0 for Health message to children, parents, caregivers, colleagues, friends, and neighbors.

2. Promote Healthy Behaviors

Adopt policies & practices that support the 9-5-2-1-0 for Health behaviors in your particular setting.  Encourage others to do the same wherever children live, learn, and play. 

3. Join The Campaign

Join the Tipping the Scales for Better Health Campaign to connect with other people who share your commitment to child health promotion.
